What the Hybrid told Kara

credits: Sci Fi forum member called Frakula

Hybrid: All these things it wants and many more, not because it wishes harm, but because it likes violent vibrations to change constantly.

Then shall the maidens rejoice at the dance.

Structural integrity of node 7 restored. Repressurizing.

The children of the one reborn shall find their own country.

Intruders swarmed like flame, like the whirlwind.

Hopes soaring to slaughter all their best against our hulls.

Kara Thrace: I'm here, you wanted me here, so.....

Hybrid: Replace internal (?) control accumulators 4 through 19. They'll start going ripe on us pretty soon. Compartmentalize integrity conflicts with the obligation to provide access.

FTL sync fault uncorrected.

No ceremonies are necessary.

*** scene break ***

Hybrid: Then shall the maidens rejoice at the dance.

Sructural integrity of node 7 restored. Repressurizing.

The children of the one reborn shall find their own country.

End of line. Reset.

Track mode monitor malfunction traced. Recharge compressors. Increase the output to 50%.

*** (multiple hybrid voices are heard here, note that it is very difficult to make out separate lines after they have been overlayed in the editing process, some of the following is undoubtedly incorrect. Very tricky. It makes my head hurt trying to decipher it.) ***

~ All these things are happening and more - assume the relaxation length of photons - not because it wishes... ~

Hybrid: Transverse contact is inevitable, leading to information bleed. FTL sync fault stands uncorrected. No ceremonies are necessary.

Kara Thrace: I don't understand...

Hybrid: Centrifical force reacts to the rotating frame of reference. The obstinate toy soldier becomes pliant. The city devours the land...the people devour the city...

Leoben: You can't hurry her, you have to absord her words. Allow them to caress your associative mind. Don't expect the fate of two great races to be delivered easily.

Hybrid: Assume relaxation length of photons in the sample atmosphere is constant. Intruders swarmed like flame, like the whirlwind. Hopes soaring to slaughter all their best against our hulls.

*** scene break ***

Hybrid: All these things it wants and many more, not because it wishes harm, but because it likes violent vibrations to change constantly.

Then shall the maidens rejoice at the dance.

Sharon: Ok, we're rigged and ready. It's time to pull her offline and get out of here before we miss the rendezvous.

Hybrid: Reset.

Sharon: Any luck Captain?

Hybrid: Track mode monitor malfunction traced.

Kara: Not a frakkin' thing.

Hybrid: But you are a spark of God's fire. Core update complete.

Kara: Frak it! Unplug the **** thing, let's get the frak out of here...

(The Six gives the Eight the nod to disconnect the Hybrid.)

Hybrid: Threat detection matrix enabled. Dendritic response bypassed. The recieved dose is altered by the delayed gamma burst. Going active. Execute. The children of the one reborn shall find their own country. End of line.

(The Hybrid screams in a somewhat androgenous monotone as the Eight grabs the cable. A nearby Centurian shoots the Eight before she can break the cable, even though the Six told it to stop. Everyone in the room shoots the Centurian. The Hybrid is still screaming, the Eight's blood runs into the Hybrid's goo bath.)

Kara to the Hybrid: What do you want from me? Please, I need you.

(The Hybrid stops screaming and touches Kara's face.)

Hybrid: Thus will it come to pass. The dying leader will know the truth of the opera house. The missing three will give you the five, who have come from the home of the thirteenth. You are the harbinger of death Kara Thrace. You will lead them all to their end. End of line.

(Sharon walks over and picks up the cable. The Hybrid gasps as Sharon disconnects her.)

Oooooh, BSG TV movies?

Crap, in a good way. Not the Tigh "craaaaaap" kind.

There will be another set of Webisodes that will link the first 10 episodes of Season 4 and the second half of the fourth and finale season.

Even bigger news: More "Battlestar Galactica" TV movies may get made.

And like Razor, which was delightfully seamless in fitting with the canon: "
The films would be about incidents in “Battlestar Galactica’s” past.

Galactica!

From AICN, some insight in the - sniff, sniff - final season of BSG. The scuttle came froma special Galactica event that included...
Then Lucy Lawless came out to introduce and moderate the evening. She looked great, and throughout the night, the thing that kept making me laugh the most was just how big a nerd for the show Lawless is. I don’t think she’s a science-fiction fan in general (at one point, she thought that David Eicke actually coined the term “space opera”), but her enthusiasm for this program as a fan, not a cast member, was obvious. She promised that the evening would be “a discussion of all things BATTLESTAR,” and then she introduced the evening’s panel.

And so:::
* I got to ask “Galactica” mastermind Ronald D. Moore why the regular cast would be in “Razor,” the two-hour fourth-season premiere of the series (due in November), since “Razor” is said to deal with the Pegasus at the start of Cylon War II. Moore said the movie will actually depict several periods in Pegasus’ history, including its Lee Adama era.
Fat Apollo returns?
* Star Edward James Olmos said he so loves “Galactica” he’d do it for free. “They can keep my paycheck,” he told he gathered crowd. He also said his friends were appalled when they learned he had agreed to star in a remake of “Battlestar Galactica.”
"It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does? "LOve this man. Here's his feelings on the show ending:
“Horrible,” Olmos answered, and despite renewed laughter, it was obvious he wasn’t kidding. He talked about how important he feels the show is. “I don’t think the Powers That Be will understand exactly what it is that they’re doing or the importance of it for at least 20 years. This is a mirror that Ron and David hold up to our world each week, and it’s a privilege to be part of it.”

It get's better.
Everyone talked about how Mary and Eddie set the tone for the younger actors on the set, and how they basically rule their own sections of the set. David said he may have created a set like the command bridge of the Galactica, but when he steps onto it, Eddie runs it like Adama, right down to explaining to the extras exactly where they’re supposed to be and what their jobs are as part of the flight crew. Same thing with Mary when they’re onboard the presidential shuttle. Everyone sort of looks to these two because they’re the older, more experienced actors, and they’ve worked on stage, in serious films, in other series.
The best news?
Filming on the fourth and final season began three weeks ago and will wrap in March. The two-hour “Razor” is set to hit SciFi (and DVD) in November; the 20-hour balance of season four hits SciFi in early 2008.

LOTS more good stuff, click here to read it all. I'll leave y'all with this:::
And then a guy who dramatically introduced himself as “Tennessee Luke” got up and said, “Okay, you’ve finished the show. And now your genie will give you any role. What’s the role?”

No one seemed willing to answer at first, so Jamie said, “Oh, fuck it. Hamlet.”

Katee: “I’m looking forward to working with David again on BIONIC WOMAN.”

Eddie: “I am the Bionic Woman.”

Mary: “And I am a Latino in space.”

Crissing the Crossroads...

Now ... spoilers ...

thru the finale of 3.0

(Holy Shit! ) Bear McCreary is from Fort Lauderdale.
(Props to the hometown.)

"All Along The Watchtower" came out in 1967.

Here he talks about reworking and working in the song.
While the song is among the best Bob Dylan ever wrote, Jimi Hendrix's 1968 version is so famous and iconic that many people simply assume he wrote it. In fact, All Along the Watchtower is among the most frequently covered pop songs in history. So, you can imagine my surprise when I learned that not only would it be included in the season finale, but it was incorporated directly into the script.

From E!:
And just because there will be debate, can you confirm that they are Cylons?

Yes, they're Cylons.

Will we meet the fifth Cylon eventually, and when?

Yes, I think we will eventually reveal the fifth Cylon. "When" is a tougher question to answer, because we haven't really decided ourselves.

And you won't tell us this if you know what's good for you, but have we met that Cylon before?

Oh, I can't answer that.

I have questions that were emailed from readers. The first one is from Alesia: "In one of the podcasts, you said 'Maelstrom' [where Starbuck dies] was the beginning of the third act of the series. What would you say was the break between the first and second acts?"

Oh, that's an interesting question. I would say it was the year's leap forward that was the end of the first act. The story of New Caprica—that, to me, was the second act of the show.

Now, Starbuck seems to be back, but is Katee Sackhoff contracted to do season four? Is there more Starbuck story to tell?

Yes, Katee will be back with us for season four. We couldn't let her go.

And gods bless Saul Tigh.
...he still hesitated not at all to perform his duties.
(Zap2it)

"My name is Saul Tigh. I am an officer in the Colonial fleet. Whatever else I am, whatever else it means, that's the man I want to be. And if I die today, that's the man I'll be."

Ron Moore in Salon:

I like the show best when you get to a place where you're not sure who you're rooting for anymore, you're not sure whose side you're on. And you're confused and you might even be angry about what we're doing but at least it's forced you to a place of trying to define your own point of view on something.

He says this of the reality of the characters on the ship:

It wasn't going to be the best ship in the fleet crewed by an elite crew. It was going to be an old ship getting ready to go into retirement, and there were going to be a lot of misfits on that ship. What happens when the fate of humanity rests on their shoulders? That's a far more interesting question to me.

Shit. The finale even got a shout-out on frick'n - I mean frackin - Daily Kos.

Today's a day for huge history and navel-gazing cultural deviances alike: other March 26ths have seen the signing of the Egypt-Israel Peace Accords (1979), Jonas Salk announcing the development of a vaccine for polio (1959), and an raging online debate over whether Battlestar Galactica achieved new brilliance or totally jumped the shark with last night's episode (2007).

Back to spoiling. This writer makes a very important observation:

It can't be a coincidence that these were four of the five leaders of the New Caprica insurgency (the fifth being Laura Roslin, and isn't that damned interesting?)

All Along the Watchtower

A fan put this vid together in November. Nice call!

"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

Howard Stern lurves BSG

Well, duh. He might be a perv but he's got great taste. As TV GUIDE writes:

Some people are surprised that Howard Stern has become obsessed with Battlestar Galactica.

I'm not.

Howard followed the same path that countless others, including myself, have trudged down as we became BSG fanatics.

1. Denial

Someone whose taste in television you implicitly trust will tell you how great Battlestar Galactica is. Galactica? With Lorne Greene and the Cylons? And Starbuck is a girl now? Come on. I'm a geek, but not that geeky. You wonder how anyone would waste their time on this Sci-Fi series.

2. Acclaim

At the end of each season, everyone's Top 10 list seems to include BSG. Can all the critics, and my trustworthy friend be wrong? Hmmmm....

3. Fate

Somehow, some way, the Season One DVD box set makes its way into your hands (I was fortunate to get a review copy). You put your early prejudice aside and give the series a whirl.

4. Obsession

From the opening meeting of Number Six and a soon-to-be-terminated human, BSG never lets up. It's smart. It's sexy. It's incredibly shot. It's all you can watch until Season One comes to its surprising conclusion.

5. Thirst

Season Two is available on DVD to satisfy your BSG hunger. The series is currently in the middle of Season Three on the Sci Fi Channel, and it continues to hold up well.

6. Acceptance

Now you're the one touting Battlestar Galactica and getting the weird looks from non-believers. But they'll come around. Just like you did. You'll see.

See you on New Caprica.

Of course, nekkid Six is somewhat a draw. And Tricia Helfer has gone on his show.
